Special performance and tribute to Florence B. Price by Nisheedah Golden

Join us for an afternoon of elegance and history as we honor the legacy of Florence Price, the first African American woman to have her composition played by a major orchestra. Revel in the spirit of 1933, amidst the blooming beauty of our garden setting, and pay homage to a composer who broke barriers with her melodies.

Dress Code: In the spirit of the occasion, guests are encouraged to don their finest Derby hats—a nod to the timeless elegance and flair of the era. Men and women alike are encouraged to embrace this unique aspect of our garden party, adding a touch of whimsy and tradition to the day.

Purpose: This event is not just a celebration, but a mission. We aim to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the historic auditorium at the school where Florence Price’s groundbreaking composition was first embraced by the public. This venue, steeped in history, requires our collective efforts to restore it to its former glory, ensuring that it continues to serve as a beacon of cultural and educational excellence.

Tickets: A contribution of $40 is kindly requested. Your generous donation grants you entry to this exclusive garden party, where you will be treated to an afternoon of music, light refreshments, and the company of fellow patrons of the arts. Together, we can make a significant impact on preserving a piece of musical and educational heritage.
